After watching the first four bond movies, I didn't have very high expectations of the fifth, which wasn't any better rated then the first four. Here are my ratings for the first four, Dr. No:
C+, From Russia with love:
D-, Goldfinger:
D+, Thunderball:
C-. Dr. No was lame and not thrilling enough, from Russia with love was the most boring action movie ever made with a terrible villain, goldfinger was also boring, had bad action, and is clearly not a great bond film, and thunderball was like the bad sequel to dr. no. Fortunately, they made you only live twice, which easily outdid the previous four bonds in almost every way.
The acting talent remained about the same, but you only live twice had the great elements that a bond movie should have, which the other four lacked in. The first half was just eh, but it was still certainly still better than the first four. The second half was a enjoyable fun ride. The setting was fantastic, the action was epic, and Kissy was a great replacement for Aki. We were introduced to a great villain, and the ninjas(?) were very cool. The ending scene was awesome, and I'm going to give this movie:
