Ranking 29 Modern Marvel Movies- Worst to Best

29. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2012)

I think everyone reading this list will have at least one thing in common: that Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance was a terrible movie. Not only terrible acting, characters, and story, this movie was also extremely boring, something very rare for a superhero movie. It was so boring I skipped the 2nd half of the movie (or most of it). Normally I would love a Nicolas Cage and Idris Elba movie, but for this I can make an exception. It did damage to both of their careers, and I wish this movie was never made.

28. Elektra (2005)

95% percent of time (in my opinion), action movies with a female lead don't work. This definitely didn't either. was a lame superhero and the movie had a terrible cast. The action was crappy and I just wanted it to end. I wouldn't call it boring, so points for that. But this was just another spinoff that never should have been made.

27. Ghost Rider (2007)

The only advantage over the sequel, was that this movie was incredibly boring, and we didn't already know Ghost Rider was bad. If anything, it looked good.

26. Hulk (2003)

This movie did the unthinkable, it made superhero movies boring. Eric Bana wasn't a very good fit, the villain was weird and barely showed up, but it did have great action. Wait a minute... there was no action. In my opinion this is the second least action packed superhero movie (after superman returns) when it should be filled with great action. At least we got an improvement five years later.

25. The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

This sequel had all the faults from the first one, but no improvements. The mummy franchise showed us that returning the villain for the second movie is not a recipe for success, and they had to do that here. Also, the silver surfer was a boring, crappy character that did not to be added to this. And who the hell played him? As much as I can remember, Chris Evans took all the superpowers and did all the work, and that is not a good idea when you have 4 superheroes to save the world.

24. X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

After seeing the first two great X-Men movies, I was excited to see the third. Then X-Men: The Last Stand turned out to be to be a terrible mess where pretty much all the characters you love did for no reason and Phoenix goes insane and turns to a freak. Maybe if they didn't switch Bryan Singer for guy who clearly can't make great movie, X-Men: The Last Stand and Superman Returns may have turned out okay.

23. Daredevil (2003)

Let's get this straight, Ben Affleck does not belong in action movies, and he definitely does not belong in a superhero movie. While I thought Michael Clarke and Colin Farrell were good villains, the heroes were just terrible and it was completely unrealistic. I know it's a sci-fi/fantasy film and its going to be unrealistic, but Daredevil never got the power to jump backwards across buildings and he definitely should been killed by the glass. Who directed this? Oh, right. The guy from Ghost Rider. Dosen't that make a lot of sense?

22. Fantastic Four (2005)

Sure, it had its flaws, but great things like chris evans and power origin story make this the first movie on the list where I can say "I'm glad this movie was made."

21. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

Sure, it was the worst Spiderman and the most disappointing Superhero movie ever made (in my opinion, I mean the trailer looked amazing), but I thought it was decent movie. Sure, Dane DeHaan didn't belong in the movie (or movies altogether), and Jamie Foxx was completely wasted. Rhino was okay, but we never saw any of him. When I think about it, I remember great acting from Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, good action(not great), and good effects. I haven't seen this movie a second time, but I look forward to it.

20. Spider-Man 3 (2007)

We all know what's wrong with Spiderman 3. Overabundance of villains, creepy Peter, and much more. But this movie was very interesting.

19. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

I enjoyed this movie, and I don't know why others don't. It has a good cast: Hugh Jackman returning as wolverine, Live Schreiber who acted so greatly, Ryan Reynolds was awesome and I wish I saw more of him, and Dominic Monaghan finally getting another recognizable roles besides his roles from Lord of the Rings and Lost. It had good action and a very interesting story. The effects were sh*t, but I enjoyed it and think this a criminally underated movie.

18. Thor (2011)

I really liked Thor the first time, but when I watch it again and again, I can see that it lacks great action, great characters, or a great villain. I know Loki's great, but he did not appear so in this film. This is the worst Marvel Cinematic Universe film, and unlike the last few entries, this one is very overrated.

17. The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Lets compare this to Hulk (2003), Edward Norton was much better, it was interesting, and had good action, especially in the last scene. While it wasn't a great film, it was a huge improvement.

16. The Wolverine (2013)

This movie had good action, a very interesting story, and Wolverine was just awesome. I know it not an excellent movie, but it is very underrated.

15. Iron Man 2 (2010)

You know the bad things about this movie, but Justin Hammer, Whiplash, Black Widow, and War Machine were all great additions to the movie.

14. Spider-Man (2002)

13. Spider-Man 2 (2004)

12. Iron Man (2008)

Most people put the first film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe around 4 or 5 in their list, but I'm putting it at 12. Robert Downey Jr. was amazing but this movie had the worst villians of the iron man trilogy and they put too much time into the Gulmira scene. I did love the part where he keeps building and improving upon the Iron Man suit.

11. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

I was looking forward to this film for a long time, and it really disappointed me. The setting was boring, I didn't care for the story, it lacked the adventure of the first film, I liked the supporting characters less, and the villain wasn't as great. But the action was excellent, and this was a very thrilling movie. A little overrated though.

10. X2: X-Men United (2003)

9. X-Men (2000)

I really like this movie, but it had an old and lame feel to it.

8. Thor: The Dark World (2013)

Unlike the first one, this movie had great acting (the first one was good, but not as good), great action, a very compelling story, and great villain. Just kidding about the villain.... Malkeith sucked. Loki was awesome and the ending was great.

7. Iron Man 3 (2013)

The conclusion to the Iron Man 3 brought cool new suits, a great villain, great action, and really set itself away from the other iron man films. The twist was terrible, but I can easily forgive it thanks to the rest of the movie. No offense to Jon Favreau, but Shane Black did a better job.

6. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

This movie was a little disappointing, but it was too good for me to care. Amazing action sequences, great dialogue, cool setting, and an awesome story. Superhero films don't get much better than this. (Except for the next five)

5. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Andrew Garfield was so much better than Tobey Maguire, and it had the humor a spiderman movie should have. The villain was awful, and the action lacked, but everything else made up for it.

4. X-Men: First Class (2011)

The transfer of roles (Professor X., Magneto) to younger actors was an excellent decision, because it brought the movie great acting and action.

3. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

This movie was so fun and awesome, with a really great story.

2. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

This movie was great, funny, action packed, and filled with great acting and even better characters. Every moment of this film was golden, and I can't say there were any flaws.

1. The Avengers (2012)

The movie was amazing because the idea of the all those great superheroes together in one movie was excellent. Mark Ruffalo played a great hulk, Jeremy Renner was a great Hawkeye, the last action scene was breathtaking, and there are so many other reasons this is at the top of the list.
