Madagascar Trilogy (2005- 2012) Review

Madagascar (2005)
A solid cast. Good characters. A great story. An even better theme. And plenty of adventure. It wasn't quite as good as a Disney epic, but it started the franchise well, brought plenty new to the animated genre, and was funny.
Movie Rating: B

Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa (2008)
The cast and characters remained great, but Madagascar 2 becomes a stupid dancing musical with no meaning. It's easily the worst installment in the franchise, and didn't have any of the gems of the original. It was still funny, though.
Movie Rating: C+

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012)
It literally has nothing in common with the first two, except the identity of the protagonists, but that's what makes it the best installment. Of course, the cast and characters are exceptional as usual, and we're also introduced to some new characters, too. Two new allies, voiced by Jessica Chastain and Bryan Cranston. And one great villain, voiced by Frances McDormand. It had fantastic action and adventure sequences, keeps great comedy, has plenty of heart, and is certainly one of DreamWorks finest.
Movie Rating: A-

  1. Good post! I am taking this theme for my kid’s birthday party and I am playing a few episodes from one of the series by Andy Yeatman for them. I know how entertaining and educating these shows are and I really want the kids to enjoy but also learn good things.
